"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times," is the best way to describe the arrival of a new baby into a family.

No one can adequately prepare for what the new parent’s life will be once an infant is home.  P.A.C.E. supports new mothers as they embark upon their parenting journey.

Description of P.A.C.E. for 1st Time Moms

8 Two-Hour Sessions, with a maximum of 12 moms and their babies (2 weeks to 5 months). The P.A.C.E. sessions are focused on discussion and support for moms.

The P.A.C.E. leaders facilitate the weekly topics through information sharing, personal parenting vignettes and by creating a safe nonjudgmental environment for mothers to share their parenting journey. The leaders are all at least Masters level Mental Health professionals who possess an extensive background in the areas of group dynamics and infant/child/parenting development. P.A.C.E. makes no distinction between women who work outside of the home or stay at home as "All Mothers Are Working Mothers". The mothers who join a P.A.C.E. group are educated, professional, thoughtful, supportive, loving, nonjudgmental, and caring women. Mothers are encouraged to get together at other times during the week. Some moms will go out to lunch after each session. Groups usually continue well after the 8 sessions.

Weekly Topics:
Session 1: Personal Stories-How did you get to this place in time?
Session 2: Eating, Sleeping, & Crying
Session 3: The Attachment/Bonding Process
Session 4: Temperament / Play & Physical Safety
Session 5: Changing Relationships
Session 6: Family Session weekend TBA once the group starts
Session 7: Limit Setting
Session 8: Where do we go from here?
